Norse paganism is the practice of the old "viking" religion that many now call mythology.

Most of what we know today about the norse religion is recovered from archeologist or recorded in the sagas. There's a number of sagas preserved and recorded. Most of these come from Iceland in the 1200 and 1300s. Unfortunately there are large gaps in many of these sagas as it was an oral tradition while the norse culture and religion was severely on a decline. We now know that the practice of norse paganism pre dates the “viking” era by several eras including a bronze norse age. As much of this practice is lost in time from various reasons we as modern neo pagans are introducing new practices while honoring the old ways. Norse paganism just as any form of paganism is a polytheistic religion with many dieties and no one way of practice. Some enjoy simply honoring their heritage while honoring the gods, while others practice being volvas(norse seer).

My name is Jason and I'm a norse pagan practicing shamanism, witchcraft and spirituality. What is shamanism you may ask? great question! This also can vary from person to person and especially from one religion or culture to another. Many shamans also practice witchcraft but they are different from each other. Shamans in many ways are like the equivalent of a pastor, interpreting the sagas, sighns, messages, runes and healing and anything else along the spiritual path. To me shamanism is about leading and guiding others in their spirituality journey, especially with healing. Shamans are like oracles, a bridge between the heavens and earth. Its like having one foot in a world while the other foot is in another world and receiving messages, knowledge and guidance to be shared with those in need. As I write this I am reminded by a story from the sagas when Odin hangs himself from the world tree, ygdrassil. He hung from the tree for nine days and nights almost dying. While in a sort of trance or state of meditation the runes come to him along with the knowledge each one carries and shares them with the humans of Midgard.

As I said earlier my name Jason and am a norse shaman. I've been on this path of spirituality for a few years now. The ancient norse believed our talents were gifts from the universes, our ancestors and the gods. With that I feel called to use my skills as a shaman to help others with healing and guidance through rune and tarot readings and reiki healing. I know its helped me transform my life in a postive way and I hope to help others down their own personal paths no matter what your religion or beliefs may be. Even if you're simply open minded you are welcome here.
